I know that as human beings, our main focus is trying to be able to be more independent. Stand out, and be able to rule oneself. Many people do not like to be under another's control or agenda necessarily. As we move up and level up in our lives, our independence is what we focus on, and we move according to who we are and what we are. We move forward mostly alone because what we are guided to do and what motivates us makes us unique and not like everybody else. What interests us may not be the same as others, and we have a vision or passion that may be different from others.
However, today in the year 2021, everyone is looking to be apart of an autonomous community because we have new Black CEOs, private practices, corporations, and non-profit organizations that reflect our communities and each person's purpose. To be autonomous is to be independent, self-governed, and, most importantly, be free. It is not to do things among others' desires and morals but to do things among ourselves, among what we see as ethical or moral in our own unique way. Everyone is growing within our Black communities because our Black communities are tired of being reliant on a paycheck to paycheck and the possibility that they could lose their job, income, and support from an organization. Everyone does not want to live under another person's authority because, as human beings, we are not subjected to be robots in the midst of societies. We were made to be our own people because we all look, sound, and represent differently.
So no matter how much you want to make a decision based on other ones doing or motivation, always looking back at your self-awareness, your moral and ethical reasoning, and whether you be apart of an autonomous or nonautonomous community or, in similar words, be self-governing, self-aware, and self-conscious on the decision you make. It is not selfish to say no to things made up or given to you, but it is selfish to say yes to what is given when you have no desire for what you want to do for yourself. Yes, things can be handed to you, but are those things truly for you?
