Writing can be exciting when you know who you are writing to and who is it for. It's even more exciting understanding that writing is almost among everything you do!
You can look at four different types of writing by asking the following questions:
Are you trying to persuade your audience to do something? (Persuasive)
Do you look to describe or explain variations of your topic in detail? (Descriptive)
Do you look to inform, expose, and break down a new and upcoming topic with nothing but facts? (Expository)
Are you looking to tell a story that means the most to you? (Narrative)
If you can answer yes to any of those questions, then you are on the right track of understanding what your writing will entail!
Would you buy something not knowing what it is? The same thing applies to writing. How may you ask?- Do you write before you know what you are writing about? Or in this case, not know “what it is”?
The four different types of writing can help with writing blocks, understanding your paper better, and will help your paper stand out, but most importantly, knowing this will have you understand your audience and the goal of your paper.
REMEMBER!
It's better to know your audience before you assume that you already know them.
So keep note of your four different types of writing!
